ABOUT ZEITGEIST

Willie Geist has maintained since 1996 that the Internet, like the automobile and the television before it, is a fad. He gets his information from microfiche at the public library and communicates with friends through the good old-fashioned United States Postal Service, thank you very much.

So then why is he blogging? Two words: community service. After an ugly incident at his weekly Sudoku game, Willie was sentenced to speak to young people about anger management. He heard that "young people" looked at the Internet, so the blog became his punishment. It's Willie's way of giving back.

In Zeitgeist, you'll find the kind of expert analysis of news and pop culture that has made Willie one of the most beloved figures in American life today (you can look it up). You'll also get raw, behind-the-scenes footage from MSNBC. You'll even get to talk back to Willie. So give the blog a try and catch the Internet fad before it's gone for good.

Willie, Socrates of our Time, so good to see the weather channel in your sights. I remember them standing out waiting for snow to fall, highly anticipated, but never to transpire despite their entreaties/predictions. As for Harry Potter, I have kids (congrats if you've had your first, hope you get the father's days gifts you deserve) so I've read/seen a little bit more--doesn't change my view a bit from yours. Oh, by the way, you have competition, though you'll find no irony at http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/. Might be grist for the Zeitgeist mill however. all the best!
Wow.  How incredibly lame.  Adults making cynical fun of the Harry Potter franchise hit it's peak 5 years ago.  Well, that was 45 seconds of my life I'll never get back.
Better ease up on the Chocolate Frogs there, Harry.  Unless St. Mungo's has a wizard adept at quadruple bypasses.
any thought about Harry Potter is thought about imagination and beauty and thinking. This is good for adults and children . Anything that gets current day humans to read a book is also good fiction or non. So Willie or Daniel, sarah or Eli or betsy of Frank rwead think imagine and kepp it going. its freedom at work.
How ridiculous!
Gee, Willie, that was lamer than usual. Hey, Harry Potter books aren't my cup of tea either, but one thing you gotta say, J K Rowling got kids excited to read.....she actually got them away from the play station and into a book! No small task, that. As for Harry Potter...get over it. The rest of us have. New daddy needs to learn to thank anyone who will get kids to read, ya think? Hang in there, Willie.

I love Willie Geist! His satiric humor is such a welcome breeze with all the "crap" that we hear on the programs..
I thought you should know, Willie, that the next movie in the franchise is going to be renamed: Harry Potter and the Hormones of Doom.
How stupid is this . First of all  if you don't watch the movie and/or read the books then you have no place to comment on something you really know nothing about. Especially making such idiotic comments at that. Please keep your day job!
Hi Willie...
Pay no heed to the above poster. She is from Glendale, CA, which is very close to HollyWeird.
For those who have never read the book...i'm with the others, you can't really comment.

I thought it was kids stuff at first, liked the movies but the books are so much more detailed and interesting.  They're geared for kids and adults...she does a pretty great job actually!  It's the 'lion, witch and wardrobe' of my time.  Hilarious how everyone picks on Harry Potter...but no one slams Disney...Um...boy walks thru train station wall and ends up in a magical land...Girl goes thru looking glass and ends up in magical land...yeah...they're so different right?

Good Verses Evil and good always wins...you have to give that the message is positive and with the magical spin...just a new way to teach an old lesson.

Happy Hogwarts!
